We offer a duet interpreting the five sonatas and three cycles of variations for cello and piano, in a historically informed reading, consistent with the evolution of instrumental construction during these different historical periods. Beethoven’s advice, as published by his young student Czerny, also provides an exciting source of inspiration for us to understand these free and borrowed works of humour, violence, tenderness and humanist intelligence.
We also offer a cross-reading with some trios including violin.
