Zamba

Works by Sanz, Boccherini, Sances, Jose de Orejón y Aparicio Yupanqui
Tonadas y lanchas para bailar of the Codex of Trujillo, Padre Compañon, 1780

Pulcinella disguises herself for this program and embodies the figure of zamba, a Métis woman of the colonial era, heir to the blood of Creole and Andean traditions. The zamba is of course a still lively dance of Argentine folklore.

To capture the flavor of Spanish plays our zamba revisits the treasures of the Latin American repertoire and especially the Codex of tonadas y lanchas collected in the province of Trujillo, Peru, around 1780, by the Padre compañon to highlight the many reciprocal influences of these cultures.
